November 27, 2008
Ah Thanksgiving.. that can only mean I’m full of bubbles and tofurkey as I type this little update.
First Jason Cosco just put up a full video of me & Asa Morris’ noise battle at the Upstate Artists Guild in Albany, which you can view below. The jam is certainly awesome. We get into quite a groove at times.
Part 1: (9:51)
Part 2: (6:47)
I’ve got quite a few shows coming up to end 2008, although most are TBA. December 22nd at Hotshots is a definite though is. So far it’s Ghoul & The Valley Ghosts from Michigan with more TBA.
The house party basement show with Audibel & Samuel Yager (Tone Pony/Birthdays) was pretty sweet. Me & Samuel played together and did two improv sets of noisy electro. It was pretty awesome and maybe we’ll do some more in the future.
This Saturday I’ll be hitting up Aimie’s Dinner & a Movie in Glens Falls for the Mathematicians debuting their long awaited DVD “Transdimensional Odyssey of Doom“. It’s $15, but everyone will receive a free copy of the DVD.
“Dog Buys Pistol” is about 90% finished. I’ve also started work on a new project and new direction I’d like to take the Ghoul.. exciting.
November 5, 2008
Holy hell, is it really already November? Yesterday was my first time voting, and I feel like I won! Congrats to Obama!
The build up to Halloween was much better than the actual day. It came and went in a flash like always. We drove up to Albany to catch Beware! the Other Head of Science’s set, which was of course awesome (nice Misfits cover).
My “Do the Fright Thing” compilation actually happened and was very well recieved! I’d love to keep these guys going every year, so we’ll see what happens. I promoted the hell out of that thing and if you heard it, I hope you enjoyed it.
To promote the compilation, I pieced together a music video for my featured song “Satanic Lunch”. The footage is very dated (is that.. Fetish??) but fits the song very nicely. You can check it out here:
The day after Halloween show with Firefighter Font was pretty rough. The system is completely ruined, so.. it looks like it might’ve been one of the last Kings Tavern shows. Despite coming out of one speaker (which was shot by the way) my set was pretty well recieved in all it’s lofi glory.
As for November-December and onwards I have no shows scheduled.. I will be putting the finishing touches to “Dog Buys Pistol” and then taking the Ghoul into a completely different direction.
I’ve been toying with the idea of releasing a Ghoul Poon DVD to coincide with the release of “Dog Buys Pistol”. Features would include all of my music videos to date, a couple of live performances and a collection of my short films. The DVD itself would be self released like all my CD’s, probably in my normal paper sleeve fashion, and sold for $2-5. Exciting!

October 8, 2008
October is finally here beetches.. and this Thursday (10/9) I’ll be making my return to the lovely Upstate Artists Guild in Albany. As usual I’ll be spreading sonic goodie fuzz, performing with Grab Ass Cowboys, Worlds of Shit and two Iowa noise bands; Boar and Make Believe Bombs to Blow up Make Believe Worlds. It’s going to definitely be a good one. I’ll be following my new trend of making every Poony show a different one by doing a split battle set with Asa Morris (of Super Concentration Club) from Glens Falls. Me and Asa are new buddies, have way too much in common and will be playing together for the first time in front of an audience, so it should be interesting.
at this show I’ll be giving away a handful of copies of “The New Killer“, the first CD me and Jeff did as If Yes, Then No back in 2007. I think it’s ready to be heard by more than two ears. You can hear the EP almost in it’s entirety over at http://www.myspace.com/ifyesthenno. Speaking of IYTN, “The Umberland Remix” will probably find it’s release at the next UAG show I’m scheduled for. Asa too will be giving away free copies of his latest EP “Mute“. So, come out.. watch the creepy visuals courtesy of Jason Cosco, watch the Albany noise boys battle it out with some Iowa noisers to see who can knock down the most paintings, get some free cd’s and witness me and Asa’s half hour of spacey fuzz.

Well shit.. fall is officially here. And the legal trouble that’s kept me in limbo since April has finally worked out. Halloween’s on it’s fucking way..
For those who attended the Noise night experiment at Hotshots, you know what went down. I just wanted to try it out because I love the guys at Hotshots, and I love their sound system. But, as one should’ve expected.. ambient electronics / harsh noise freak outs don’t mix well with Monday night football at a sports bar. Needless to say the night was extremely fun and historic until the next day. Close friends know the nightmare I’ve been going through and I’d like to apologize a million times to Hotshots for the awful shit that went down.
Shaking off the nightmare I opened for Severe Severe and Detroit’s Child Bite on Wednesday at Kings Tavern. AWESOME show.. AWFUL turn out. What’s the deal people? If Charlie Everywhere (not a shot at them, just YOU) isn’t playing you couldn’t give two shits? Despite the huge disappointment it was great to finally meet Severe Severe and build with them. I smell good things to come.
Next up for me, despite the crap I’ve dealt with I’ll still be playing with Grab Ass Cowboys and Worlds of Shit at the Upstate Artists Guild in Albany. Two touring bands from Iowa will be playing as well (Boar and Make Believe Bombs Blow Up Make Believe Worlds). As usual at the UAG this is a free show ($5 donations accepted for the touring bands) and starts at 9:00 PM. Will definitely be a fun one.
Last thing for you.. expect some new faces rocking out with me in Ghoul (I already debuted one at Hotshots). Also a possible shift in the official line up and the music I’ve been making. Exciting!
